ProGlove, the leader in wearable barcode scanners, has set a new Guinness World Record as part of its participation at Retail’s Big Show, NRF 2023. The company also presented new research results that examined the latest peak holiday season.
For the entry in the Guinness Book of World Records, 50 items had to be scanned and packaged under supervision according to clearly defined rules. To do this, it was necessary to beat a time of 3 minutes 31 seconds. With the LEO entry-level scanner and untrained stand personnel, ProGlove achieved this objective with ease in a measured time of 2 minutes 21 seconds. The wearable tech pioneer not only demonstrated the potential of its technology, but also addressed a key requirement of many retail organizations. After all, many rely on seasonal workers, especially during peak season. Yet, extended training sessions are not an option. The technology has to work ad hoc.
As well as breaking records, ProGlove used its NRF participation to introduce a new survey about the latest peak season. This new research reveals the continuing issues many retailers have with reliably anticipating demand. Only 39 per cent of the survey participants thought they could accurately predict demand during the holiday season.
Yet forecasting demand is a vital element in warehouse management. In fact, 51 per cent of those surveyed highlighted that forecasting demand was their main inventory management concern
