November and December – the months in which online sales event Black Friday and, of course, Christmas, fall – saw online fulfillment solutions specialist, Walker Logistics, a family-owned UK and European outsourced Logistics provider based in Berkshire, record a 23 per cent year-on-year increase in the number of e-commerce orders picked, packed and dispatched at its logistics hub.
2021’s throughput jump is particularly impressive given that during the same period 12 months earlier Walker’s online order fulfillment business had leapt by an unprecedented 317 per cent.
“Given the size of 2020’s order spike – which coincided with the boom in internet shopping brought about by Covid lockdown regulations that had forced high street shops to close – we are delighted to be able to announce further year-on-year growth,” says Charlie Walker, Walker Logistics’ head of marketing.
He adds: “The continued increase in fulfillment activity not only reflects the sustained popularity of internet shopping, but is also due to the fact that we have added a number of important new accounts to our client base throughout the past year.”
To keep pace with the ongoing growth in demand for its range of services Walker is building a new 125,000 sq ft warehouse on land adjacent to its existing 250,000 sq ft multi-user fulfillment facility. The work is due to be completed by the end of this year.
