May 24, 2015 Warehousing Ireland Events, News Comments Off on UKWA in tune with Multimodal 2015
UKWA (United Kingdom Warehousing Association) enjoyed three great days of listening to the logistics industry at Multimodal 2015, which was held at the NEC, Birmingham at the end of April. Challenges presented by a growing population, greater demand for urban distribution, evolving etail, advancing technology, the skills gap and potentially restrictive legislation – all key UKWA themes – were common discussions on the UKWA Pavilion during the event.
“The resounding message received by the UKWA team at Multimodal is that the Association’s agenda has struck a chord and reflects the challenges faced by logistics operators of all sizes, as well as retailers and manufacturers,” said UKWA CEO, Peter Ward.
The UKWA Pavilion welcomed many Multimodal visitors, who came to network and to visit the stands of a broad array of Association members that shared the pavilion. Across the duration of the event, the UKWA Multimodal challenge also attracted great interest and a lot of fun before eventually producing a winner: congratulations to Greg Deal of Peel Ports.
Summing up UKWA’s experience at Multimodal 2015, Ward said: “Our three days at Multimodal reaffirmed that it is vital for UKWA to be a strong voice for a rapidly evolving Logistics Sector. Increasing membership from the all parts of our sector – including big retailers and manufacturers – will be crucial for exchanging views and building our momentum, so we are delighted to have received so many membership enquiries at the event. I’d like to thank everybody who came along and made it a tremendous three days.”
UKWA will be carrying these discussions forward throughout the rest of 2015 and beyond. The next big date in the diary where the industry can engage with these themes is the IFWLA Convention in Liverpool, which takes place on 1-4 June 2015.
With delegates gathering from around the ‘Logistics World’, HRH The Princess Royal will officially open the UKWA hosted conference within the convention. Speakers from major retailers and manufacturers alongside key logistics operators and thought leaders, will make attending the conference, which is being held on 2-3 June 2015 during The IFWLA Convention, an invaluable investment.
