TRANSPORT LOGISTIC: MORE INTERNATIONAL, MORE GROWTH
2,040 exhibitors from 62 countries have registered to take part in transport logistic, the 15th International Exhibition for Logistics, Mobility, IT and Supply Chain Management. That´s an increase on the number that took part in the last event. In nine exhibition halls and on the outdoor exhibition area, a total of 110,000 square meters of space will be dedicated to all the latest trends and developments all along the value chain in the sector. transport logistic takes place from May 5 to 8, 2015 at the Messe München exhibition center in Munich.
With around 49 percent of the exhibitors from outside Germany, the growth in exhibitors is coming mainly from abroad. There have been significant increases in the number of exhibitors from China, the Netherlands and Poland. But there are also more companies from Estonia, Italy and Spain this time around. In order the top ten exhibiting countries, after Germany, are: the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, France, United Kingdom, Austria, Spain, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and China.
Looking at the individual segments, it is in maritime logistics and rail freight that we are seeing the most growth. The segment on IT, too, which, like logistics itself, has an interface function, is also taking up more and more space at the show.
Many firms are taking part in transport logistic for the first time this year. They include Airports Company South Africa, Ceva Logistics, JCB Deutschland, Nacco S.A.S, Segro Germany and Sinotrans. New in the line-up of country pavilions are Bahrain and Portugal. In total 22 international pavilions have registered for transport logistic 2015. From Germany, too, there will be a number of joint stands, featuring exhibitors from individual geographical regions or selected industry hotspots. In addition to this there will be a number of nationwide stands, one such being “Innovation made in Germany”, sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy. Showcasing their innovative products here are 13 recent start-ups in IT and communications.
As well as the exhibition itself, visitors can also look forward to a wide-ranging supporting program of events, with many highlights, taking place on each day of the show. The events kick off with the official opening of transport logistic, on the first day of the show, Tuesday, May 5, starting at 10:30 in the Forum in Hall A6. The opening address is to be given by Alexander Dobrindt, Germany´s Federal Minister of Transport. This is followed by a panel discussion on “Digitalization in logistics – Strategy and implementation”. The panelists are: Dorothee Bär, Parlamentiary State Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure; Stefan Hentschel, Industry Leader Technology, Google Germany GmbH; Prof. Dr. Karl Nowak, President, Corporate Sector Purchasing and Logistics, Robert Bosch GmbH; and Frank Rausch, CEO, Hermes Logistik Gruppe Deutschland GmbH / Hermes Transport Logistics GmbH. Gundula Gause, a well-known editor and anchorwoman on German TV, will be chairing the event.
Also to be recommended from among the many interesting forums, are two keynote speeches. One is being given as part of the Air Cargo Europe Conference on Wednesday morning (in Forum 1, Hall A6), by Dr. Alexis von Hoensbroech, Board Member Product and Sales, Lufthansa Cargo AG. The title of his speech is: “Future of air cargo – an outlook”. The second is a lecture given on Thursday afternoon by Shankar Venkateswaran, Chief-Tata Sustainability Group, TATA Group, in the panel discussion entitled: “What price ignorance – logistics is the key to a sustainable global economy” (Forum III, Hall A4).
The highlight on the last day of the show is a special event on the “Future Friday”, May 8: an interview with Thomas Helmer, European football champion from 1996. He will be talking to sports journalist Oliver Forster about his “Soccer career – Ups and Downs”. The interview starts at 12:30 in Forum I in Hall A6.
