Two Top Companies Combine To Help Parts Identification
Major parts distributor Team P R Reilly is among the latest aftermarket businesses to embrace the TecDoc electronic parts catalogue system and incorporate it into a bespoke WEB SHOP portal.
Team P R Reilly, Irelands largest aftermarket importer and distributor with 19 branches across the country, including one in Belfast, has been trialling the TecDoc system internally for a number of months, but has now launched the portal to its trade customers.
Stephen Blake, purchasing manager for P R Reilly said: “We originally took a couple of TecDoc user licences for the purchasing team and we were so impressed with the speed, accuracy and simplicity of the system, that we started to speak seriously to Shaun (at TecDoc) about how we could incorporate the TecDoc system into the business.
“The market is definitely changing from the traditional printed catalogue, to web-based electronic systems, so we thought that the time was right to provide something for our customers. Now that we have the finished WEB SHOP portal, we can give those customers that have a trade account with us access to our cataloguing system, which means that they no longer have to thumb through a different catalogue for each product supplier to find a particular part.
“Those who use TecDoc already will be familiar with the ‘traffic light’ system which is used to show the stock levels of each product. With our WEB SHOP we have customised this function to linked directly into our central stock system, which means that our customers can see whether the product is in stock and available. However, it will also redirect them via a telephone icon if our central office shows an item as being out of stock, which allows us to ship the product in from one of our other branches.
“Another excellent feature allows us to show our customers their own pricing and highlight special offers on particular lines, and they can search the system when is most convenient to them, even out-of-hours.”
TecDoc’s commercial director for UK and Ireland, Shaun Greasley said: “TecDoc is Europe’s leading parts information data provider and we have a great deal of experience developing bespoke systems such as the WEB SHOP designed for P R Reilly.
“This experience means that we can tailor the platform to deliver just what the customer needs, whether that be individual pricing, stock levels, specific brands or VRM (search via the vehicle’s registration plate). It also means that the portal is designed to reflect the corporate design of the business to provide a seamless interface across the other areas of the site.
“When the TecDoc system is used in conjunction with TecCom order processing, customers can also action their orders online, receive their invoices electronically and even track their orders through the system.”
