Jun 11, 2017 Warehousing Ireland Logistics, Materials Handling, News Comments Off on Switch to outsourced logistics helps Musto make instant savings
As part of a broader overhaul of its supply chain function, Musto, one of the world’s leading brands of sailing and country sports clothing, has appointed Walker Logistics to fulfil orders for its extensive range of shoes and luggage to trade customers.
Musto had previously managed its entire logistics process in-house from two warehouse facilities in Essex but, following a review, opted to outsource part of the operation to a third party specialist.
As a result, the company has been able to consolidate its stock-holding within just one unit – allowing it to sub-let one of its existing storage facilities and realise immediate cost efficiency gains.
Under the terms of the contract, Walker will act as an extension of Musto’s stringent customs warehouse set-up from their multi-user site close to Reading. Orders will be picked, packed and dispatched for shipment to clients throughout the UK and EU.
Walker Logistics’ sales director, William Walker, commented: “Musto is a high-end name in technical outdoor wear and we are delighted to be working with the company to help Musto further develop its already very successful business and highly prestigious brand.”
