Fork lift truck industry’s biggest Conference just got bigger
Just days after announcing its biggest and most ambitious Safety Conference programme to date, it has been revealed that Falklands veteran Simon Weston has accepted an invitation from the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) to address delegates.
The one-day Conference, which is sponsored by Briggs Equipment UK, will take place at Warwick University on Wednesday 24th September.
Attended by managers and supervisors from across the UK and a wide cross-section of industries, the National Fork Truck Safety Conference is the biggest event of its kind.
“We are very pleased to announce that Mr Weston will be attending the event and sharing his inspirational story with delegates this year,” said FLTA Chief Executive Peter Harvey.
“His is a story of triumph over adversity and his presentation will show the power of a positive mental attitude, the importance of turning difficulty into opportunity and remaining committed to a goal.
“This is particularly fitting at an event where delegates will hear – first-hand – from those fork lift safety heroes who have met obstacles head-on and have successfully created and nurtured positive safety culture on their site,” said FLTA Chief Executive Peter Harvey.
“Every one of their stories is different. But, like Mr Weston, they share an unshakeable commitment to a goal that will impress, inspire and inform.”
This year’s programme – under the theme – “Is there a killer in your warehouse: 5 real-world ways to transform fork lift safety” – includes case histories from companies who have successfully driven safety change, including: Babcock Marine, Briggs Equipment UK, GKN plc, Interfit UK Ltd, JCB and Mentor Training.
The Conference’s keynote address will be delivered by Philip White of the Health and Safety Executive and the day will include an update from the Accrediting Bodies Association.
In addition, the Conference will host its first-ever Q & A session with a hand-picked Practical Safety Panel. Specialists from a wide-variety of areas – including unions, insurance, legal and training – will offer delegates a range of perspectives and guidance.
Tickets for the event are priced at £95.00 (excl. VAT) for members of the FLTA or its Safe User Group and £125.00 (excl. VAT) for non-members. The price includes lunch, refreshments and a delegate pack.
