Nov 14, 2020 Warehousing Ireland BREXIT, Main, Product Launch Comments Off on P&O Ferrymasters look to WMS experts as sustainable solution comes to the UK
Evolve Automation, the Leicester-based industrial robotics specialist is introducing a dynamic warehouse management system to the UK which, says the company, brings end-to-end systemisation, visibility and control to warehouse and logistics operations across most market sectors.
Called CORAX and developed by Dutch WMS experts Davanti Warehousing, the market-proven SaaS (software as a service) solution is fully cloud and web-based with an integrated mobile app and the flexibility to handle 1,000 to 100,000 pallets.
Building on the international success of CORAX in food, 3PL, consumer goods and e-commerce industries, Evolve Automation will assess user requirements by carrying out an on-site review to exactly match all warehouse handling and logistics needs to a dedicated CORAX WMS system.
“We work closely with major operators across all UK markets.” Says Evolve Automation Managing Director Scott Hitchin. “We provide automated handling in food processing, production, automotive, logistics, supply chain and supermarkets. Therefore, CORAX is a natural fit and further enables us to offer a total warehouse management solution embracing all types of automated, mechanical and robotic goods handling.”
For example, P&O Ferrymasters, is using CORAX at two of its warehouse distribution hubs, the most recent being for its new 231,000 sq. ft. distribution centre located within DP World London Gateway – the deep-sea port and logistics park.
P&O Ferrymasters were looking for an accessible WMS that could be implemented quickly and that could keep pace with the company’s growth. To this end, CORAX is a SaaS product which can easily be scaled up and down so that as the company grows, CORAX grows with it. Furthermore, being a scalable product, no IT infrastructure or servers are required.
In keeping with P&O Ferrymasters’ Port-Centric strategy – to ensure end-to-end supply chains are increasingly efficient and effective with direct access to a central hub linking rail, road, deep sea and short sea – operations at the London Gateway P&O Centre, require constant and precise management.
Accordingly, CORAX is centrally managed and for P&O Ferrymasters, provides complete control of up to 20,000 mixed pallets, destined for literally hundreds of separate onwards journeys. Constant, automatic updates keep all parties informed and the system is both secure and sustainable. Furthermore, the elimination of paperwork and physical inventories saves time and cuts administration.
According to Scott Hitchin of Evolve Automation, CORAX is found to be 60-80% more efficient than a manual MHE system and with reduced handling, improved visibility and more efficient use of space, users can expect to see a return on investment in 2-3 years.
“Furthermore,” says Scott “CORAX also supports inventory management and goods flows across multiple separate storage locations within one and the same installation. Also, depending on the authorisation, a user has access to one or more warehouses or work areas and can instantly review stock levels at multiple locations in real time. Each WMS user can also choose their own language – often essential in the international working environments typical of P&O Ferrymasters.”
As sole sales agents for CORAX in the UK, Evolve Automation provide remote and onsite support for WMS users regarding all mechanical and software issues.
