Parcel2Go, the UK’s largest online parcel delivery company, has created a brand new
resource designed to help anyone considering a career in the logistics industry.
According to graduate careers website Prospects, hundreds of thousands of vacancies
will be created in the sector over the next seven years, with opportunities available in a
range of areas from air transport through to warehousing and support activities.
In order to help inform school leavers, graduates and people considering a career
change, Parcel2Go has come up with a handy guide – Making Your First Steps Towards a Dream
Career in Logistics – which is available to view now on Parcel2Go’s blog
[http://blog.parcel2go.com/a-guide-to-a-career-in-logistics ].
The guide provides an overview of the various types of firms involved in the logistics
sector, where opportunities exist, relevant skills and qualifications and details on some
of the typical routes into a logistics-based role.
Richard Mercer, marketing director at Parcel2Go, said: “The popularity of online
retail has created a surge in demand across the logistics sector – in particular for the
courier industry. We work with the world’s leading courier companies including
Parcelforce, FedEx, UPS and Yodel, and so have seen firsthand how much of an impact the
growth in online sales has had.
“Companies involved in logistics are having to adapt to meet demand as more people
turn to the internet to order products and organise parcel delivery services. It’s
certainly an exciting time to be coming into the industry. Hopefully our new guide will
prove useful to a range of people considering a career in logistics – some might even end
up working for the UK’s largest online parcel delivery specialist in the future!”
Parcel2Go helps businesses and individuals to organise the movement of more than two
million packages every year. While a large number of these will be delivered to addresses
in the UK, many will travel to destinations across the world with a Parcel2Go
international courier service
