Jun 24, 2017 Warehousing Ireland Materials Handling, News Comments Off on MIMI Plus: Full Use of Warehouse Height
MIMI Plus, one of the most important suppliers of wood materials and furniture fittings for carpenters and cabinet makers on the Slovakian market, has equipped its warehouse with rack systems from OHRA. Thanks to the racks’ stable construction using hot-rolled steel profiles, the full height of the warehouse could be used with the greatest number of storage areas realized within the available space.
MIMI Plus, located in Zlaté Moravce, supplies customers from the furniture industry, cabinet makers, and carpenters with wood materials, fittings, and accessories. In order to store the broad range of articles the company built a new warehouse in 2005. Since then it has been primarily used to store MDF and OSB panels, wood chip board, worktops, and a range of profiles. The warehouse was previously equipped with a rack system which, due to the high requisite load bearing capacity, only allowed for a low storage height. Different goods were stacked on top of each other, making access to individual articles difficult.
The Slovakian company therefore decided to equip the warehouse with a new rack system from OHRA. The manufacturer, with headquarters in Kerpen, Germany, has specialised in rack systems for the timber trade and is the European market leader for cantilever racks. The main reason for the decision is that all the load-bearing elements of the OHRA racks are manufactured from solid-walled, hot-rolled standard structural steel. This enables greater storage heights with high load bearing capacities. Furthermore, the shelves of the pallet racks are made from IPE profiles with welded suspension brackets which are considerably thinner than those used in conventional racks. All in all, the cantilever and pallet racks in the warehouse from MIMI Plus offer considerably better space utilisation than the previous system.
Furthermore, the racks are extremely flexible. The shelf heights of the cantilever and pallet racks can be adjusted using a 100 millimetre grid so that the racks can be easily tailored to the dimensions of different goods. In the case of the console racks the individual arms are flexibly suspended, without the need of screws, allowing the cantilever arms to be quickly adjusted to the changing dimensions of the articles to be stored without the use of tools. The stored goods are also protected from damage.
With the new rack system MIMI Plus now has a storage height of up to 6.5 meters at is disposal, significantly increasing its warehouse capacity. Furthermore, the racks can be easily and flexibly adjusted to the respective stored articles. Access to the goods is now considerably quicker and simpler.
