The latest generation of 8-16T capacity lift trucks from Hyster provide exceptional versatility and power for demanding applications where attachment usage is common.
The new low emission Hyster® H8-16XM-6 range of 8,000kg – 16,000kg capacity forklift trucks is designed to be customised with a variety of attachments to suit specific applications.
Built for intense use in arduous operations in the metal, paper, port, manufacturing and timber industries, when matched with the right handling attachment, the models can achieve impressive lift speed averages of between 0.28m/s and 0.51m/s.
Chris van de Werdt, Sales Manager for Hyster Big Trucks says “The robust frame, wide drive axleand heavy duty “Vista” mast provide excellent stability and long-term durability when handling loads with large attachments and long load centres.”
The new Hyster® H8-16XM-6 range also provides, in general, the possibility to control up to four auxiliary controls on an attachment.
“For example, a stone handling solution from Hyster can clamp, rotate, side-shift and reach or retract a clamped stone package,” says Chris. “We recently delivered the H12XM-6 model to a customer which offered 4,500kg at 2,100mm load center. This solution has a comparatively small footprint for such an operation.”
The new range delivers relentless power during intense duty cycles and in extreme operating conditions such as exposed quaysides at ports and 24hr operations.
In the paper industry, the new 8-16T range suits a range of clamps which may feature 180/360 degree rotation, single and split arm contact pads and allow for clamping, lift, sideshift and rotation functions.
Several models feature “Load Sensing Hydraulics” which are demand sensitive resulting in less waste, reduced operating temperatures and greater fuel efficiency when lifting loads.
“Mining applications are another good example. We have recently delivered a new Hyster H16XM-6 to a remote mine complete with a special tyre manipulating clamp for the assembly, disassembly, mounting and un-mounting of the enormous tyres used on mining sites,” says Chris.
For the driver, the Hyster “Vista” cab offers an outstanding range of standard ergonomic features and delivers excellent all-round visibility particularly of any front end attachment, to ensure ease of operation. Pin type carriages also enable the flexibility of fast attachment and fork interchange.
The Hyster Special Project Engineering Department (SPED) team can also support the needs of specialised and demanding application requirements. A recent example is an accommodation container handling solution which features a special spreader that handles the containers from the side or from the top, depending on the individual engagement design. It is similar to a laden container handler but with a significantly smaller truck.
The new range of Stage IIIB/Tier 4i compliant trucks is reported to offer exceptional fuel savings, a low cost of operation and ensures a cleaner working environment with low emissions.
“Intelligently designed trucks from Hyster, combined with extensive services and support capability from a global network of distribution partners offers end-users across the world a powerful package of services and tools to enhance their handling operations” adds Chris van de Werdt. “This is particularly important when specifying trucks with specialised attachments.”
