In October 2012 RTITB announced the return of the Lift Truck Operator of the Year competition, since that time future champions have been completing the online hazard perception test in a bid to be one of the top entrants invited to participate in the heats at the IMHX in March.
With entry to the competition closing at midnight on 14th February, many lift truck operators have already taken the opportunity to prove themselves to be the safest and best operator in the UK and Ireland. However, for those that haven’t, there is still some time left to make the most of this fantastic opportunity to win prizes (ranging from an iPad Mini to a brand new car), and get the recognition they, their employer and training organisation deserve.
HSE’s 2010/11 Workplace Transport Finalised Summary identified that:
All of this reflects the competition’s significance in demonstrating the commitment of an organisation and its operators to:
• Promoting a strong culture of safety and safe lift truck operation
• Uniquely identify their enterprise as a successful, efficient and enviable operation
• Reducing injuries, fatalities, downtime and risk in workplace transport
The competition is absolutely free to enter (the competition will even contribute towards travel costs) for counterbalance operators currently registered on the National Operator Registration Scheme (NORS), simply visit www.opofyear.com/online-testing/ to take part.
