Oct 12, 2014 Warehousing Ireland Materials Handling, News, Noticeboard Comments Off on Kalmar to improve efficiency at Port of Felixstowe with 4 reachstackers
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, will deliver four reachstackers for laden handling to the Port of Felixstowe in the UK. The reachstackers have a capacity of 45 tons and are supplied with a telescopic Bromma spreader which incorporates fully integrated overheight legs for out-of-gauge cargo handling duties. The order was signed in July 2014 with delivery in February 2015, and it includes a full maintenance agreement.
“The Kalmar reachstacker is well adapted to all kinds of diversified cargo handling. The lifting equipment, boom, attachment options and rotation possibilities allow the driver to improve the work efficiency of the unit. The equipment will help our customer to reduce fuel consumption while improving customer service,” says Dave Patterson, Market Area Director, Kalmar UK and Ireland.
The deal extends Kalmar’s cooperation with Port of Felixstowe, adding to the eight Kalmar reachstackers, three loaded container handlers and 15 empty container handlers already in use. The Port of Felixstowe is UK’s biggest and busiest container port, and one of the largest in Europe. The port handles more than 3.7 million TEUs and welcomes approx. 3,000 ships each year, including the largest container vessels afloat.
