Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has retained a three-year contract to provide complete service and maintenance support for two Kalmar ship-to-shore (STS) cranes operated by SCA Logistics B.V at their Rotterdam Terminal in the Netherlands. The contract became operational in September 2013.SCA has opted for Kalmar’s Complete Care package. Effectively a repeat order, the agreement provides all labour and parts needed to deliver a complete maintenance programme for the two STS cranes. The contract is tailored from Kalmar Care technical services and availability management elements. It includes all maintenance-related tasks, from planning to execution, delivery of spare parts and 24/7 on call support.
SCA Managing Director Rotterdam, Roelf Buist, believes Kalmar’s service provision meets their needs precisely. He said, “Service is very much a people business and the engineering team at Kalmar regularly demonstrate that they fully understand our priorities. As we don’t have our own technical service department we rely on Kalmar’s expertise to ensure optimum machine productivity.”
“Kalmar Complete Care is a comprehensive package of service support for our STS cranes available from a single point of contact and provides us with total peace of mind. We’ve trusted Kalmar service support for the last five years and it has worked exceptionally well. SCA’s business is constantly growing. Along with all types of forest products, our container handling throughput is increasing so it’s vital we have both the right equipment and service solutions in place to maximise uptime. That’s where Kalmar’s support is unbeatable”, he added.
Seppo Heino, Vice President, EMEA North at Kalmar added, “We are delighted that SCA have again selected Kalmar as their full service provider. With Kalmar Complete Care, our customers are able to enhance productivity and flexibility in their operations.”
Kalmar Care was introduced in June 2013. It consists of four different contract types that are standardised globally, across all customer segments and for all cargo handling equipment brands. The contracts are modular and fully scalable and they cover everything from day to day support to meeting entire servicing and maintenance needs. Working in partnership with customers, Kalmar will assess each operation to recommend the right level of maintenance support to optimise their business.
