Feb 15, 2014 Warehousing Ireland News Comments Off on Jungheinrich Builds New Corporate Headquarters
Hamburg—Jungheinrich AG will build a new corporate headquarters at the company’s traditional domicile at Friedrich-Ebert-Damm 129 in Hamburg-Wandsbek. If weather conditions are favourable, construction will begin in February. The move into the new corporate headquarters has been scheduled for the spring of 2016.
“The new building is a pledge to our long-standing tradition of being domiciled in Hamburg-Wandsbek. About 500 of our employees work here. We will create a modern, attractive working environment for them,” says Hans-Georg Frey, Chairman of the Board of Management of Jungheinrich AG.
The building will have five storeys, occupy a usable floor space of over 18,000 square metres and comply with the Silver Certificate issued by the German Society for Sustainable Construction. This will ensure that it complies with extremely high standards in terms of environmental compatibility and sustainability. The investment budget for the new building is in the order of 25 million euros.
Jungheinrich AG is the general contractor. The premises, which have a total size of 14,000 square metres at Friedrich-Ebert-Damm, also provide enough room for future building expansions.
In an appraisal procedure, six architects’ offices developed blueprints, which were appraised and evaluated by a jury consisting of city administration officers, external experts and Jungheinrich representatives. The unanimous vote was in favour of the blueprint submitted by Hamburg-based architects Prof. Klaus Sill & Assoziierte.
Since the spring of 2007, Jungheinrich has been using a leased office building in the immediate vicinity of the “old” and “new” company site, Am Stadtrand 35, as its corporate headquarters.
Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is an intralogistics service and solution provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, logistics systems, services and advice. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
