Feb 17, 2024 Warehousing Ireland Logistics, News, shipping, Storage, Warehousing Comments Off on IDEC Group Iberica completes primary stage of Europe’s first XXL energy-positive logistics project

DEC GROUP IBERICA, a subsidiary of GROUPE IDEC INTERNATIONAL – develops Europe’s 1st energy-positive XXL Logistics & Industrial park in Antequera, southern Spain : PUERTO SECO DE ANTEQUERA. The first phase of this ambitious project was completed at the end of December 2023, covering a net surface area of 37 hectares. A first program is already under development, offering for sale or lease a 42,000 m² logistics platform that can be divided into two equal areas for multiple users.
A STRATEGIC LOCATION

Situated in the south of Spain, PUERTO SECO DE ANTEQUERA emerges as the dry port of Andalusia, strategically positioned near Algeciras, Malaga, and Cadiz. This ambitious project serves as an ideal gateway to Southern Europe, boasting top-ranking maritime, airport, rail, and road connections, making it a perfect location for industrial and logistics activities. The park stretches over more than 300 hectares, with a 2nd phase already in progress.

37 HECTARES OF LAND ALREADY AVAILABLE FOR REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT

After months of collaboration between local authorities, partners, and GROUP IDEC IBERICA teams, the first phase 37-hectare development is now complete. Key infrastructure includes multiple access points, an interchange designed to accommodate future traffic, engineering structures crossing waterways and railways, a rail terminal connected to the national grid, an electrical substation, wastewater treatment plant, recycling center, sewerage, water supply networks, and various plots for public and private services.

FIRST LOGISTICS PROJECT ALREADY UNDERWAY

The completion of this first phase of development, representing 37 hectares of the global net 160 hectares planned, paves the way to the first program in the PUERTO SECO DE ANTEQUERA park. IDEC GROUP IBERICA’s 1st project, the DRY LOGISTIC 40 is a 42,000 m² logistics platform that can be divided into two 21,000 m² independent areas. Boasting the highest environmental, quality and safety standards, this program, aiming for BREAAM Level Excellent certification, will feature a floor load of 5 tons/m², a clear height of 12 meters, three levels of tertiary spaces, a concrete structure, 44 docks, a reinforced roadway and a fire system to NFPA standards, as well as several lots for inter-service centers to complete the program.

LOW-CARBON ENERGY APPROACH

IDEC GROUP IBERICA teams and its partners have designed PUERTO SECO DE ANTEQUERA as a showcase for energy efficiency. By implementing a diverse and complementary energy mix from local suppliers, the logistics, industrial and utlilities zone aims to encourage the local production and sharing of energy among users. The surplus energy will be used to produce renewable hydrogen.
