Garbe Industrial, one of the leading developers, providers and managers of logistics, light industrial and commercial real estate in Germany and Europe, has extended its lease agreement with Toolport, a specialist in professional tent solutions, ahead of schedule. The company uses a total area of around 18,500 square metres at the Nordport industrial estate in Norderstedt, on the border with Hamburg, to store tents, folding gazebos, plastic-film greenhouses and accessories.
“The early and long-term extension of the tenancy agreement is the result of our effective asset management,” emphasises Philipp Petersen, Regional Manager in Hamburg at Garbe Industrial’s Real Estate Management division. “In the current challenging market environment, reliable tenancies are extremely important. We see Toolport’s early decision to continue our partnership as a sign of mutual trust and a positive signal for the logistics property market in the Greater Hamburg area.”
The specialist in tent and outdoor solutions also benefits from this long-term partnership. “As an e-commerce company now operating 18 country-specific online shops of our own, having long-term planning certainty is a crucial factor for us,” says Sven Herrmann, Chief Operating Officer at Toolport. “By extending the lease ahead of schedule, we are strengthening our presence in Norderstedt and creating a reliable foundation for further growth.“
Toolport is the anchor tenant in the logistics property at Nordportbogen. The company occupies just over half of the total floor space of around 34,000 square metres. Garbe Industrial acquired the existing property in 2020. Additional tenants include, amongst others, a renowned client from the aerospace sector. Alongside approximately 27,000 square metres of warehouse space, the building offers 1,950 square metres of mezzanine storage and just under 5,200 square metres of office space.
The property is situated on a plot of land of approximately 55,000 square metres in the Nordport industrial estate. More than 50 companies, including well-known national and international logistics firms, have now set up operations there, employing around 3,500 people. A key feature of the location is its immediate proximity to Hamburg Airport. Just a few hundred metres from the logistics centre, Garbe operates the World Cargo Centre, one of Europe’s largest air freight transhipment hubs. The property company also has further logistics centres in Norderstedt. All properties are just a few minutes’ drive from the A7 motorway, which links Norderstedt with Flensburg to the north and with Hamburg and Hanover to the south. The sites also benefit from access to Hamburg’s public transport network, operated by the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund (HVV).
