In its most ambitious initiative to date, the Fork Lift Truck Association is spearheading a nationwide campaign to drive down accidents and near-misses at every site that uses forklift trucks.
The Safer Site Programme is a free, online, step-by-step safety programme that anyone can implement. The idea is simple: each month the FLTA will publish on its website a new step – or part-work – in the programme. Each step will contain advice, guidance, resources and a series of practical tasks that must be completed to move through the process.
Importantly, it has been built with the involvement of truck users who have themselves introduced successful initiative that have made their sites safer. It is believed that sharing best-practice and explaining how issues were overcome will massively increase the relevance to those seeking to put life and limb saving procedures into place.
Another key aspect of the Programme will be to help companies develop open, blame-free reporting so dangerous practices can be highlighted freely and without recriminations.
Details of the Safer Site Programme are in the attached document and more can be found on the FLTA website: www.fork-truck.org.uk
