DEL Equipment (UK) and its new ZEPRO division launched what they believe to be the lightest 750kg cantilever tail lift on the market, at the CV Show 2015 at the National Exhibition Centre.
The ZEPRO Z3N, with a 1450mm aluminium platform and including its control unit, mounting brackets and rubber body seals, tips the scales at just 190kg – while maintaining all of the strength, stability and exacting build quality associated with the ZEPRO brand.
“The Z3N may have been on a strict diet but make no mistake, it’s still fully equipped to stand up to the toughest of working conditions,” says ZEPRO Product Manager Paul Kelly.
“This lift is significantly lighter than anything the competition can offer and we believe that it provides a real competitive advantage to operators in weight-sensitive applications, or indeed to anyone who wants to maximise their payload or help to cut down on both fuel consumption and carbon emissions, by keeping the unladen weight of their vehicles to an absolute minimum.”
The new Z3N sits alongside the similar, but heavier-duty, Z75 in the ZEPRO range. Weight has been saved by a combination of measures including:
● The use of very high grade steel – so strong that less thickness is needed – in the cantilever system;
● ‘Smart’ engineering, adding strength where it’s needed but reducing the amount of material used in areas of lower stress;
● Replacing steel components with aluminium where possible, for instance using an aluminium under-run bar backed by a steel plate, rather than an all-steel item.
“The Z3N attracted a lot of attention from visitors to our stand and the CV Show,” adds Paul. “Overall it was a really successful event with a high number of solid leads generated – we finished the three days tired but very happy.”
DEL Equipment (UK), Britain’s number one manufacturer of column, tuckaway and bin lifts, recently acquired the rights to supply, build and support the world-renowned ZEPRO range of cantilever lifts and sliders in Great Britain.
The deal is already opening up new markets to DEL, which is based in Witney, Oxfordshire. Its own lifts open and close manually and are aimed primarily at operators of light- and medium-sized commercial vehicles – ZEPRO’s Swedish-built products, by contrast, are designed for heavy-duty trucks and semi-trailers, and incorporate powered deployment as well as lifting systems.
Both companies are part of the multi-national Cargotec Corporation’s HIAB division, which is the largest tail-lift manufacturer in the world, and are renowned for the ‘bullet-proof’ build quality and reliability of their products.
Given DEL’s strength in this market, and its professional network of approved aftercare providers, the new arrangement offers ZEPRO the prospect of a much higher profile in the UK, and a significant increase in sales – by 2018, DEL plans to have established a significant market share for ZEPRO lifts supplied to UK-based operators.
DEL Equipment (UK) has been designing and manufacturing tail lifts in Britain since 1987, and moved to its current, 64,000 sqft factory in Witney in 2006. The company has achieved impressive growth in each of the last five years and sold a record number of lifts last year.
DEL Managing Director Martin Saint concludes: “Through continuous research and product portfolio upgrading, DEL is advancing its offering to meet customers’ needs and expectations globally, with products that reduce lifetime costs, are durable, reliable, safe and easy to use. DEL’s product quality is guaranteed by innovative technical leadership. Our product development is based on our customers’ needs and our Production System allows us that flexibility to optimise utilisation between our facilities to provide the shortest delivery times.”
