CHEP Europe launches innovative FalConic Container

Oct 06, 2024 Warehousing Ireland Logistics, News, shipping, Storage, Warehousing Comments Off on CHEP Europe launches innovative FalConic Container

With increased ergonomics and maximised foldability, the new reusable equipment enhances efficiency and sustainability in light and medium-weight packaging

CHEP, a leader in reusable packaging solutions, is proud to announce the launch of its new FalConic Container, which was unveiled during FachPack 2024, one of Europe’s premier trade fairs for packaging, technology, and processing. The event, held from September 24 to 26 in Nürnberg, provided the first public showcase of this cutting-edge, sustainable packaging solution.

The FalConic Container is a stackable, reusable solution designed for the handling, storage, and transportation of light and medium-weight dry cargo. Designed and launched by the Pallecon division of CHEP Europe, it represents a significant milestone in CHEP’s commitment to providing innovative, high-quality solutions to meet the evolving needs of industries such as packaging, but also co-packing or e-commerce, where single-use transport packaging creates inefficiencies and unnecessary costs in the handling and disposal process.

Helping companies adjust to upcoming packaging regulations

Sustainability is at the core of CHEP’s mission, and the FalConic Container is no exception. Constructed from 80% post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials, it offers a reusable alternative to single-use transport packaging, helping businesses minimise their environmental impact. The container’s extreme foldability also allows for optimized warehouse storage and cuts down on the number of trucks needed for transport, directly contributing to reducing carbon emissions.

“The FalConic Container is a true testament to our commitment to innovation, resilience, sustainability and an excellent customer experience in the supply chain,” said Nicholas Gibbons, General Manager of CHEP Pallecon, Europe. “With Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation now guiding the industry, it’s essential to meet re-usability and recycled content targets. The FalConic Container was developed with this vision in mind and guided by our customers’ feedback. We look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the industry.”

Innovative design and functionality

The FalConic Container is designed with both efficiency and usability in mind. With a load capacity of up to 600 kg and a 1,014-liter volume, the container is equipped with an automatic sleeve locking mechanism that eliminates the need for stretch wrap, reducing labour costs and streamlining operations. It comes in a variety of sleeve heights for different production and product needs.

The enhanced base pallet design allows for seamless integration with automated clamps, making it an ideal solution for both manual and automated processes. Its ergonomic design ensures ease of use by eliminating the need for bending when securing the sleeve.

Moreover, the FalConic container is uniquely serialised with a scannable code that provides insights on the location of containers, usage patterns and cycle times, allowing customers to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and better manage their business operations.

The FalConic Container joins the  ZirConic® Container, winner of the latest Red Dot Product Design Award, in CHEP Pallecon’s portfolio of innovative and sustainable products. The former meeting the needs of light and medium-weight dry cargo, and the latter more suitable for heavy weight, both containers are set to revolutionise how businesses handle, store, and transport goods.

The FalConic Container will be available for customers to use from early 2025.
