BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), showcases a selection of its latest innovations in zero-emission forklifts to European customers attending the LogiMAT Trade Fair (25-27 April 2023) in Hall 9, Stand D17.
Ranging in capacity from 1.6 tonnes to 8 tonnes, the trucks are all powered by patented BYD Iron-Phosphate Battery Technology for unprecedented energy-efficiency and high levels of safety. Since its successful presence at LogiMAT in 2022, BYD has continued to evolve its electric forklift range to meet the demands of its European customers. BYD introduces a variety of mechanical enhancements to several models at this year’s event, while retaining a focus on energy efficiency, performance, and operator comfort and safety.
The BYD ECB25i-C counterbalance forklift truck has been significantly enhanced with upgraded components and the integration of latest-generation drive units from Italian specialist, PMP Industries S.p.A. to further improve efficiency. It also now incorporates an electronic parking brake, with the advantage of automatic battery switch-off for additional safety, along with a new mast for greater operator visibility. Other upgrades include a remodelled steering axle, helping to minimise the overall turning radius for increased manoeuvrability in tight areas.
Another model spotlighted is the BYD ECB35i-C counterbalance forklift truck, with a lifting capacity of 3.5 tonnes. This benefits from an enhanced power-assisted steering system to achieve even higher levels of steering smoothness.
For customers seeking to transition to electric from traditional gas or diesel-powered internal combustion (IC) forklifts, the competitively priced BYD SEF35 counterbalance forklift truck represents a good choice. With a single drive motor delivering the torque to the wheels, it has been configured to simulate the feel of an IC forklift truck. This makes it easier for operators to instantly switch from a diesel forklift, recreating a familiar feeling in terms of operational capabilities while benefiting from being a zero-emission vehicle, that is quieter, energy-efficient and economical. The BYD SEF35 is ‘a real workhorse’ capable of reliably operating in wet weather conditions, and has the additional option of an air-conditioned cab.
The BYD ECB16c three-wheel counterbalance truck completes BYD’s forklift line-up at LogiMAT 2023. One of BYD’s most popular models, it is displayed at LogiMAT in ATEX form, rated for operation in areas where there is risk of explosion due to gases or other volatile materials. As a result of its long-standing partnership with ATEX specialist Miretti Group, BYD is the only forklift manufacturer to offer European-specification ATEX certification Zones 1 and 2 for applications across its entire forklift and warehouse truck range.
BYD also displays a production version of the new BYD ECB80 heavy-duty counterbalance truck, currently the largest capacity truck in its range, representing a notable breakthrough in a sector dominated by diesel and lead acid-powered trucks. It has the ability to operate up to nine hours on just one hour of charging, as a result of BYD’s intelligent charging solutions. The BYD ECB80 is well-suited for highly intensive operations in sectors such as manufacturing, beverage and building.
As a global leader in NEVs, BYD is renowned for its pioneering advancements in battery and charger technology. As such, BYD forklifts available in Europe benefit from the most advanced and most efficient battery system on the market. BYD Iron-Phosphate Batteries excel through ground-breaking design, and the highest level of safety. BYD offers further reassurance through industry-leading battery warranty. BYD is announcing in LogiMAT that the new BYD ECB25i and ECB35i now come with an eight-year (or 15,000 hours) warranty, meanwhile the BYD SEF35, ECB16C and ECB80 have an eight-year warranty (or 10,000 hours).
BYD’s latest iteration of electric forklift trucks are manufactured to European specifications, using key components from trusted European suppliers. BYD sets out to exceed the standards expected by European customers, to become a long-term material handling equipment partner offering safe and reliable low-energy, zero-emission solutions, with the support of a growing network of local dealers.
