A relatively new automotive and battery technology manufacturer in China has ambitious plans to enter Irish and UK markets with its forklift products, following successful launches across Europe.
BYD – Build Your Dreams will offer a range of all-electric forklifts initially through two appointed dealers North & South of the Border, with other warehouse products due for introduction at a later stage.
Featuring lithium-iron phosphate batteries, it’s 2016 line-up covers for 1.6 tonnes to 3.5 tonnes and offers extra long life. They come with an 8-years or 10,000 hours warranty on the battery. Mostly European branded components made in China are supplied to BYD such the seats, motor, converters etc.
Priced at around the same as the big 5 players in the business, BYD aims to hit the ground running with product availability and good aftersales care.
To come is a selection of pallet trucks and stackers plus two types of tow-tractors.
BYD has already made some headway in Europe with sales of its electric bus (eBus) in London and at Amsterdam airport. In the past few week the firm launched two new electric/hybrid SUVs for the local markets. Quality and finish here is good and both cars drive very smoothly and efficiently.
Since 2013, BYD has been in partnership with Daimler with to produce the Denza EV, which offers a 300 years. Other green products produced by BYD is lighting and solar systems.
