Bibby Distribution’s superior systems and years of experience in developing an in-depth knowledge of working with dealer networks has seen the 3PL win a major contract with Suzuki, delivering motorcycles, marine engines and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) to vendors across the UK and Ireland.
The company will handle full distribution from Suzuki’s warehouse in Milton Keynes, after winning a competitive tender thanks to its reputation for reliability among members of the Japanese manufacturer’s network of independent dealers.
Additionally, Bibby Distribution’s use of electronic proof of delivery (POD) and real-time tracking via full fleet telematics ensures greater security when transporting and delivering Suzuki’s high-value products.
Kevin Sach, Logistics Operational Manager at Suzuki, says: “In the specialist world of motorcycles and marine engine logistics, Bibby Distribution already has an established reputation for reliability, which meant that members of our dealer network told us we can trust in Bibby Distribution to deliver without delay, and that’s a big factor. Our dealers work on a just-in-time basis, so we can’t afford any hold-ups within the supply chain. Bibby Distribution gives us the confidence that we can keep our promises to our customers.”
Each Bibby Distribution truck used for Suzuki will be equipped with a demountable forklift, to ensure safe loading and unloading – critical when that payload could be a 285kg ATV.
An operational manager from Bibby Distribution will also be based on-site at Suzuki’s facility in Milton Keynes to ensure the delivery process runs smoothly, and that any logistics-based queries can be quickly resolved without affecting delivery times.
Sach adds: “Working with the Bibby Distribution team will enable our operations to run more safely and efficiently. Their support will mean our network of dealers can rely on us to keep them supplied with the vehicles and products they need every day.”
Suzuki is a Japanese company that is one of the biggest automotive manufacturers in the world. It has 35 main production facilities in 23 countries and produces ATVs, cars, outboard marine engines, motorcycles, wheelchairs and a variety of small internal combustion engines.
