Visitors to the TCS&D show were the first to see Aisle-Master’s new cold store model, which was premiered at Peterborough. Aisle-Masters have long been a popular choice for cold store and temperature controlled warehousing operations and the company’s recent collaboration with some of the major names in the industry has resulted in the introduction of a model developed specifically for this sector’s exacting requirements. The exhibit was one of two trucks that were delivered to a new cold store facility in Slough after the show.
The costs incurred per ft² in cold stores make space saving absolutely crucial to productive operations, and the articulated Aisle-Master’s ability to work in narrow aisles can double the space available in any given area for vastly improved pallet density and lower costs. Driver comfort is also an important issue, and the new cab design offers a warm and comfortable operating environment, reducing the amount of break time needed for increased productivity.
Extremely cold environments can be unforgiving on equipment, quickly draining batteries for example, but the powerful 930 amp batteries fitted by Aisle-Master more than counteract this, enabling the truck to work in temperatures as low as – 40° C. Quick and easy battery changeover using a pallet truck at the rear of the Aisle-Master is another benefit greatly appreciated by cold store operations.
Some of the features incorporated into the new fully enclosed, high visibility cab include:
Aisle-Masters can work in aisles of just 1.75m, have capacities of up to 2.5 tonnes, lift heights of up to 12.5 metres, with a choice of AC electric or LPG power. Also new to the range is the narrow 1030 mm chassis 1,500 kg capacity 15E model, able to work in even tighter aisles for more space saving handling and storage. A parts warranty of 5 years or 5,000 hours now offers even more peace of mind for users and underlines the extreme reliability of the range.
