4K Systems Delivers Long-Term Storage & Materials Handling Solution

Oct 17, 2014 Warehousing Ireland Materials Handling, News Comments Off on 4K Systems Delivers Long-Term Storage & Materials Handling Solution

Advanced Coated Products (ACP) is Europe’s leading specialist coater of paper and film, and their products, technology, market focus and innovative approach place them at the forefront of their industry. In the early 1990’s, David Scammell from FourK became the company’s material handling supplier and has ever since maintained this long standing partnership with the business.

Les Brinfield, Services Manager at Advanced Coated Products’ Cheltenham site, explains: “We have worked with FourK for many years and have a mutual relationship with them. In 1994 David sold us our first FMB25 and we are still using it today which is a testament to the quality of the machines and servicing FourK provide. David has worked closely with us to offer excellent advice and a unique Forklift service solution that allows us to meet all onsite requirements, supplying us with everything we need from clamp trucks to power pallet trucks.”

FourK offers a unique tailored service to all customers and allows businesses like ACP to exploit the latest technologies, and get cost savings and equipment innovations.

ACP has been processing paper and film since it was founded in 1942, and has been supplying silicone coated products to customers since 1966. Les explains: “We make things such as the silicone paper backing for Blu-Tac, the paper used for bakeries and to separate food, and even paper dividers. Everything we make the consumer disposes of and eventually puts in the bin! However, what we make is a crucial component made for certain products and so there will always be a demand for it.”

The Cheltenham site is a busy operation and Les is very health and safety conscious. Not only are they working with heavy duty machinery and trucks but they are also making products that will be used in the food sector, so hair nets, overalls and steel toe capped shoes are all compulsory.

He also ensures preventative maintenance jobs are undergone to ensure that the machines are running correctly and to keep breakdowns and stoppages to a minimum.

Working with the business for so long, David knows and understands how they work and has regular contact with Les to ensure that all the trucks are running smoothly and to maintain communication and a close working relationship with them.

“David is very easy to deal with and listens to what I need; he doesn’t simply just provide equipment like some suppliers, he focuses on my requirements and offers a specialist service focussed wholly around us. He understands the busy working environment and the fast pace we work at. We work well together”, says Les.

FourK Systems work with all their customers to advise on ways of improving materials handling efficiencies and developing and designing solutions unique for them.

“They’ve looked at the business in detail. We needed someone creative and hardworking to work with us. He provided us with bespoke equipment such as a double-deep DPV which allows us to do certain things within the factory that we may not have been able to do previously”, says Les, “FourK has gave us so many options and spoke us through different equipment. Having an open, trusting relationship takes some of the stress off of us because I know I can trust that they will deliver with the right solution; they always have.”
