Bristol-based Paul Davis Freight Services Ltd has taken delivery of the 25,000th ‘second-life’ forklift truck to be refurbished at Jungheinrich’s dedicated lift truck used equipment rebuild facility in Dresden, Germany.
The company has received three EFG 320 trucks and a further three trucks are on order.
The order was placed at a special ceremony in Germany attended by key personnel from both Paul Davis Freight Services and the Jungheinrich Group.
“Used trucks from Jungheinrich are an ideal match for our delivery depot requirements,” said Nigel Dutson, Operations Director of Paul Davis Freight Services Ltd. “They perform beautifully, are highly reliable and – particularly importantly for a company like ours – are extremely robust!”
Jungheinrich was the first forklift truck manufacturer to have a factory dedicated to used truck refurbishment plant.
At the Dresden factory, which opened in 2006, every machine is completely dismantled and all worn or defective parts are replaced – including tyres and lift chains. The trucks are cleaned inside and out and repainted before being reassembled and safety tested.
To meet growing demand for its refurbished products, work has recently begun on an extension to the Dresden factory that will see output of reconditioned forklifts expanded to 8,000 units a year by 2018.
