Following the success of SCALA’s Fresh Connection Supply Chain Competition in 2012, Toyota Material Handling, the world’s foremost name in materials handling solutions, are once again partnering with SCALA for the 2013 Competition.
Toyota has also pledged once again to be the headline sponsor for SCALA’s Fresh Connection challenge. This supply chain competition uses an extremely realistic business simulation scenario and is used by many major manufacturers, retailers and logistics providers to promote learning by building awareness of supply chain strategy and teamwork. Previous UK winners have been Cadbury, Mars and last year La Palette Rouge
Participating companies enter teams of four Members, responsible for Operations, Purchasing, Supply Chain and Sales (with an optional mentor role also available), who must take strategic and tactical decisions to improve the performance and ROI of a fictional failing manufacturing business.
John Perry, SCALA Managing Director, commented: “We are delighted that once again, Toyota Material Handling will be partnering with SCALA for the 2013 Competition. It is particularly appropriate that the long established Toyota philosophy of “Lean and Agile” supply chains is one of the key strategies that can be adopted in the competition”
Although primarily known for supplying forklifts, Toyota Material Handling also offers new products, national service support, short and long-term rental solutions, fleet management and operator / safety training. Sponsoring SCALA’s Fresh Connection will give the company an innovative platform to promote its wider range of products and services.
Tony Wallis, Sales and Marketing Director at Toyota Material Handling UK, says: “At Toyota we are dedicated to working with companies who share best practice and strive for excellence in the supply chain industry. Our association with SCALA is another step forward in our commitment to support the logistics and supply chain industry with a recognised leader in this field.”
In addition, Toyota’s team members who last year participated in comprehensive Fresh Connection training will be taking part in a follow-up programme tailored to build upon awareness of wider supply chain strategy and better understanding the needs of their customers, a fundamental aspect of Toyota’s philosophy.
The Fresh Connection Competition will commence on 15th April 2013 and companies wishing to participate should contact Alison Hobson on 01484 437486 or at Alison.email@example.com.
The Fresh Connection is also supported by the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics and the Food Storage and Distribution Federation.
