………… for the optimization of the Ro-Ro terminal of HAROPA* – port of Le Havre
On January 16th, in Paris, the RORO MAX project – for the optimization of the ro-ro terminal – was crowned as « King of the Supply Chain » during the 7th edition of the award organized by ‘Supply Chain Magazine’.
RORO MAX awarded for the original and high-performance solutions proposed by all the stakeholders of the logistics chain
Hervé Cornède (HAROPA Commercial and marketing Director), Linda Douet (Project manager with the Grand Port Maritime du Havre), Robin Poté (Director of the Regional Centre for innovation and technology transfer – CRITT -), Aurélien Bertelle (Project manager with the CRITT) and Patrick Pirrat (STX Europe, industrial expert on the project) stood up for the RORO MAX project before the jury of the award of the ‘Kings of the Supply Chain’ made up of 600 logistics stakeholders.
This presentation made it possible to put forward the cooperative and innovating work carried out by all stakeholders (stevedores, operators, logisticians, laboratories and engineering schools) about the ro-ro terminal in Le Havre. The project was selected for the original approach for a port and the innovative solutions developed to improve car logistics.
RORO MAX : a cooperative project for a quality progress approach at the level of the Seine artery
Launched in June 2011 and supported by the State, the Upper-Normandy Region and the Feder, RORO MAX is an innovative project aiming at increasing the competitiveness and traffic growth of the ro-ro terminal in Le Havre. This cooperative quality progress approach aims to optimize all activities of the terminal. The project includes four research lines: improvement of the physical processes on the terminal, optimization of information flows, new value-added services, continuous improvement.
The RORO MAX project is fully in line with HAROPA dynamics because it has the ambition to take up the challenge of developing the waterway services on the Seine river artery, for vehicle transport between Paris and Le Havre.
* 5th biggest in the ranking of the main North-European ports, the HAROPA EIG groups together the ports of Paris, and the ‘Grands Ports Maritimes’ of Rouen and Le Havre. As a major maritime hub in Europe, HAROPA has the position of a competitive and sustainable logistics system integrating an end-to-end supply chain with efficient and environment-friendly hinterland services.
