Rhenus Contract Logistics has decided to expand its activities by building premises measuring more than 55,000 square metres on the Ekkersrijt industrial estate in Son en Breugel (near Eindhoven).
According to Alphons van Erven, Division Director of Rhenus Contract Logistics: “A combination of commercial successes and the business optimisation of our current clients made us decide to look at the possibilities for expansion, either by means of a new building or existing buildings. With the help of Raimond Weenink Bedrijfsmakelaardij B.V., which acted as an intermediary, we ultimately chose the Ekkersrijt industrial estate. Our clients are very demanding when it comes to safety, security and quality. The possibility of building premises which satisfy these requirements completely, together with the outstanding location near the A50 and A2, made us decide to build these premises.”
Jos Klanderman, Director of Dok Vast B.V., explains further: “As a developer specialising in sustainable real estate, our aim is to build the most sustainable distribution centre in the Netherlands in Ekkersrijt.”
Construction by Heembouw will start immediately after the summer of 2012, with a planned handover date for the first phase on 1 March 2013. The handover of the entire premises is planned for 1 May 2013. In these premises, a significant number of jobs will be created once the building is complete.
This new branch means that Rhenus Contract Logistics will have eight logistical centres in the Netherlands from which the European supply chain activities for e-commerce, healthcare and the technology industry can be implemented.
