Kortrijk, Belgium. PALFINGER was awarded the Innovation Award 2013 at Matexpo, the largest trade fair in Benelux for machines, devices and systems for the construction industry, industry and the environment. A five-member jury honoured the intelligent rope winch solution SRC (Synchronised Rope Control) by awarding it the main prize.
Since 2007, manufacturers from the industry have been competing for this award every two years with wide-ranging innovations. The new products nominated by this year’s jury are trendsetting solutions through and through and will result in improved functionality, user-friendliness and cost effectiveness.
In developing the Synchronised Rope Control, PALFINGER has made crane operation much easier. During operation of the rope winch, the SRC system maintains a constant distance between the pulley head and the hook block. If any crane movements are performed that affect the rope length, the innovative system electronically and fully automatically adjusts the rope length to match. The key advantage in practice is that the crane operator can traverse loads horizontally at a constant height without having to adjust the rope winch. This improvement in user-friendliness results in shorter loading times, as a result of which the SRC system optimises the cost-effectiveness of the cranes. In addition, there are major improvements in safety as the damage caused by the system to the rope and load is avoided as is the risk of the hook block running onto the pulley head.
The PALFINGER SRC system thus meets all the requirements set by the jury and was honoured at this year’s Matexpo as the most progressive technical development. After Tamac, Schnell and Liebherr, PALFINGER now joins this list of notable manufacturers as the fourth winner of the Innovation Award
