Jungheinrich Exhibits

Feb 16, 2012 Warehousing Ireland Materials Handling 0

Driving efficiency in manufacturing logistics

Leading materials handling specialist Jungheinrich has two stands at this year’s Maintec.

The company – which offers over 600 different types of pallet trucks, stackers, counterbalance trucks, reach trucks, order pickers, very narrow aisle trucks and stacker cranes – will use its presence at the event to highlight products from its extensive range of counterbalance trucks and tow tractors, while Jungheinrich’s pioneering lithium ion-powered  pallet truck – the EJE 112i – viewed by many as one of the most significant developments in forklift truck technology for many years, will also be demonstrated.

Counterbalance trucks on show will be from Jungheinrich’s  EFG range of electric-powered machines. The trucks feature fourth generation AC technology – which means that they offer class leading performance and the lowest running costs.

Ultra environmentally friendly, Jungheinrich’s fourth generation AC technology ensures that the EFG  range achieves constantly low battery consumption. Energy costs are further reduced thanks to energy reclamation during braking so that, in most applications, a truck will operate for two shifts without the need for a battery change.

In fact, according to independent tests, during a typical shift the EFG will operate for up to half an hour longer before a battery charge is required than certain of its competitors. This could equate to de-stacking an extra lorry load.

The efficiency of the EFG trucks when compared with other models is illustrated on a short video which can be watched on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpiqAHSXlp8).

Jungheinrich’s range of electric-powered tow tractors are offered in capacities from one to 25 tonnes. No other manufacturer is believed to offer such a wide range of tow tractors and, like the electric-powered counterbalance trucks on show at Maintec, models in the tow tractor  range feature the latest generation AC motors for high productivity and low running costs.

Tow tractors are increasingly popular within manufacturing logistics operations because they can work in narrow aisles and allow several loads to be transported by one vehicle. This means a saving in personnel. Also, when it comes to changing the layout of a factory, unlike stationary conveyors – which have traditionally been used to deliver parts to the production line – tow tractors are very flexible.

Jungheinrich expects its pioneering lithium ion-powered pallet truck – the EJE 112i – to create a lot of interest among visitors to Maintec.

The first lithium-Ion-powered forklift to be commercially available anywhere in the world, the EJE 112i’s lithium-Ion technology offers a number of significant environmental and productivity benefits over traditional lead acid batteries.

The battery unit itself, for example, is radically different from a lead acid battery. The battery used to power the EJE 112i weighs just 14kg. It looks very much like a brief case and can be handled easily without lifting gear.

Charging is quick and simple – it takes just 30 minutes to deliver a 50 per cent charge and the battery is fully charged within 80 minutes. The short charging times enable more flexible truck utilisation and ‘opportunity charging’ – something that will be particularly welcome at sites running multiple shifts.

In addition, the EJE 112i has one of the shortest chassis of any powered pallet truck on the market, which makes it ideal for operations where space is restricted and a tight turning radius is required.

“There will be a comprehensive display of products and services ideally suited to manufacturing logistics operations of any size,” explains Craig Johnson, marketing manager of Jungheinrich UK Ltd. “A team of highly trained materials handling equipment professionals will be on hand to provide industry leading advice and operational solutions centred on creating value by increasing productivity and lowering costs.”

“Visitors to Maintec are invited to visit our stand to learn how we are helping  manufacturing companies – big and small –  drive operational efficiencies throughout their materials handling processes.”

See best in class energy efficiency at Logistics Link

The Jungheinrich stand at this year’s Logistics Link exhibition will feature examples from the company’s EFG range of electric counterbalance forklift trucks.

The EFG trucks feature fourth generation AC technology – which means that they offer class leading performance and the lowest running costs.

The efficiency and high productivity of the EFG trucks when compared with other manufacturers’ models is illustrated on a short video which can be watched on You Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpiqAHSXlp8).

Also on show will be models from Jungheinrich’s extensive range of powered pallet trucks. The trucks – which come in a choice of stand-on or seated operator options – are ideal for covering long distances within the distribution centre quickly, safely and efficiently. Payload capacities from 1,600 kg to 3,000 kg allow the most economical solution for any specific application to be chosen.

Jungheinrich UK Ltd offers over 600 different types of pallet trucks, stackers, counterbalance trucks, reach trucks, order pickers, very narrow aisle trucks and stacker cranes. As well as this, Jungheinrich provides an extensive after-sales support network, rental and financial services, racking systems and warehouse planning. The company is a division of the German-owned Jungheinrich Group, which has manufacturing facilities worldwide.
