Jan 24, 2015 Warehousing Ireland Materials Handling, News Comments Off on Hiab to launch its biggest crane to date; the HIAB X-HiPro 1058
Reduces installation and lifetime ownership costs
Hiab, part of Cargotec, is set to launch the biggest crane to date in its high capacity range, the HIAB X-HiPro 1058. This signposts the first in a series of launches, as Hiab prepares to deliver major quality, performance and economy improvements across its heavy lift range.
Developed to meet increasingly critical requirements, the HIAB X-HiPro 1058 boasts a series of unique features, all of which have been designed to improve productivity and reliability, and to reduce lifetime ownership costs. With a capacity of 90tm and a horizontal outreach of up to 34.5 metres with a jib, and up to 38 metres vertically, this extra capacity crane is ideal for lifting heavy and bulky materials.
40% lower installation costs
Hiab’s market leading load handling technology has also been developed with the body builder in mind. The time taken to mount and configure the crane has been reduced as a result of the bolted integrated sub-frame, base mounted oil tank and the integrated auxiliary legs; features that have impressed Xavier Picart, Director, TVI Tècnica de Vehicles Industrials Girona.
“Installation of the new HIAB X-HiPro 1058 is faster, cleaner and cheaper. In fact, I estimate that we save around 180 hours of labour on a standard crane, which is 40% of the total cost,” comments Picart. “The main time-saving features are associated with the new bolted base, as this can be fixed to the sub frame, thereby avoiding lateral plates. It is no longer necessary to remove parts from the truck in order to install the sub frame. Additionally, we can paint the complete sub frame before installing the crane. For customers, this means a major reduction in delivery waiting times.”
“I think the HIAB X-HiPro 1058 is easily the best on the market. The new Variable Stability Limit+ (VSL+) gives the operator much greater handling freedom, since it allows the crane to work at maximum capacity with excellent stability.”
“The new and improved VSL+ stability system can take advantage of its loaded platform – the extra load on the truck acts as a counterweight. The VSL+ automatically optimises the crane’s capacity on the basis of excellent stability. This function increases flexibility, especially at work sites where it is impossible to take advantage of the full stabiliser extension spread,” explains Sergio Peiro, Product Manager, Hiab.
Excellent return on investment
Carl Gustaf Göransson, Senior Vice President, Sales and Markets, Hiab, says: “The new HIAB X-HiPro 1058 really sets the standard for high-capacity cranes. Our product design team has developed an exceptional solution by listening carefully to our customers. We understand the critical demands our customers face in providing services and running successful businesses. Our focus on manufacturing high quality products that deliver increased productivity but lower ownership costs has resulted in the first of a new breed of high-capacity cranes with an excellent return on investment.”
New system helps protect cargo
The new Load Stability System (LSS) makes crane operation faster and smoother, with pinpoint precision, even at full outreach, in a wide variety of applications. The function automatically compensates for and counteracts unintentional movements during vertical operations. It also dampens lifting movements, even if a control lever is hastily released. As a result, the LSS not only makes crane operations faster and smoother but also helps to protect the cargo, the vehicle and the work environment in the vicinity of the crane from potential damage.
Also new is a 9-metre chain-driven stabiliser extension system. Featuring just one extension cylinder but two telescopic extension beams, the extension speed is almost doubled, saving valuable time during crane stowage and setup.
