The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) is delighted to announce that Glyn Parker – the National Technical Manager for Briggs Equipment UK Ltd for the last 10 years – has now joined the Association’s Technical Committee.
Glyn has 32 years of engineering experience and his training expertise and technical knowledge is amongst the most impressive in the UK fork lift truck industry.
He was part of the four-strong team that initially set up the content and syllabus for the internal City and Guilds qualification for Fork Lift Truck Apprentices, which was honoured with the prestigious Beacon Award for Excellence by the Association of Colleges.
The FLTA’s newest recruit to its expert Technical Committee team said: “I am very proud to accept this new position at the Association and I look forward to playing a central role on the committee, tackling some of the industry’s most important issues.”
Glyn spent 14 years in the British Army’s Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) and has over 18 years’ experience as a fork lift truck engineer, trainer and field support engineer. He is also a fully qualified university lecturer having trained at Warwick University and Coventry City College.
Glyn worked for Lex Harvey, one of the UK’s largest materials handling companies, before it was acquired by Finning International. He then went on to become Finning’s Technical Trainer and Field Technical Support advisor, before joining Briggs Equipment in 2006.
FLTA Chief Executive Peter Harvey said: “The Association is pleased to welcome Glyn on board and respects the outstanding breadth of experience he brings to the committee, which in terms of sheer fork lift truck knowledge and understanding is unmatched in the UK.
“His input will be invaluable in providing our members and the general public with the technical advice, expertise and resources necessary to maintain and operate fork lift trucks, including Technical Bulletins, fact sheets, legal and policy documents.
“The work of this Committee allows our members in turn to provide their customers with exceptional levels of information and guidance to help them work more safely and efficiently.”
